IRVINE, Calif. — September 9, 2013 — Navien introduces the NPE-S Series of tankless water heaters, a new standard version of the company’s compact and efficient NPE Series used in commercial and residential water heating applications. The new NPE-S Series heaters are identical to the established NPE-A Series but exclude the internal buffer tank and recirculation pump. This helps save cost and weight while providing the performance, space savings and energy efficiency associated with Navien condensing tankless gas water heaters.
The new NPE-S Series offers three models: the NPE 180S, NPE 210S and NPE 240S. Maximum heat capacity input for each model is 150,000 British Thermal Units per hour (BTU/H), 180,000 BTU/H and 199,900 BTU/H, respectively. The new NPE-S Series models further improve energy efficiency with an energy factor of 0.98 EF, a slight improvement over the existing NPE-A Series 0.97 EF. Flow rates for each model are 8.4 gallons per minute (GPM), 10.1 GPM and 11.1 GPM, respectively.
“The new NPE-S condensing tankless gas water heaters are excellent for cascading multiple units together in both residential and commercial applications, while providing efficiencies for both homeowners and contractors,” says Eric Moffroid, VP Sales & Marketing for Navien. “Faster installation, longer service life and the industry leading ENERGY STAR® rating that makes the NPE series the most energy efficient tankless water heaters in the industry.”
NPE Series highlights include the ability to use ½-inch gas pipe up to 24’ and 2-inch PVC venting up to 60’, both of which cut installation time in half by allowing the units to be installed within existing infrastructure. Navien was also the first to implement dual stainless steel heat exchangers, which helps heat water faster and extends service life through reduced corrosion. Each unit also allows for easy field conversion from natural gas (NG) to propane (LP), making the NPE Series extremely versatile. The space savings associated with tankless water heaters compared to conventional water heating tanks and systems also help simplify layout in both new construction and renovation applications.
